Workshop Programs
CURRENT WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
Basic Workshops
This series of workshops utilizes a structured group setting to
help members gain insight into their overeating and body weight
difficulties and develop coping skills to control compulsive eating.
Participants explore the emotional factors which contribute to their
eating behaviors.
Advanced Workshops
These workshops are for individuals who have completed the basic
program. They provide an opportunity for continued support and reinforcement
of the behavioral tools introduced during the initial group experience.
Participants will also be working in greater depth on issues such
as resistance to change, sexuality and body image, and family/interpersonal
relationships around food and weight problems.
Movement Basic Workshops
Groups with a movement component include a program of movement
therapy directed by an expressive movement therapist. Participants
are offered tools to reduce stress, increase self-esteem, and participate
in a wider range of physical activities. They also address the ways
in which body self-consciousness limits the ability to break free
from destructive eating behaviors.
Weekend Workshops
Weekend workshops are designed for individuals who would prefer
an intensive three day introduction to the Feeding Ourselves approach.
Intermediate Weekend Workshops are also available for review and
refresher work.
ONGOING SUPPORT GROUPS
The Conscious Cafe
Alumni of the Phase I, II, or III programs are invited to meet
weekly to share a meal and practice conscious eating. This group
will focus on the principles and behaviors which reinforce eating
with awareness, identifying feelings of hunger and fullness, eating
what you truly hunger for and stopping when you have achieved satiety.
